High, wild and beautiful - "King" Watzmann rises high above Berchtesgaden and looks down at his kingdom: the Berchtesgaden National Park. In the only Alpine National Park in Germany many rare animals and plants find a home.

Let nature be nature - that's the motto in the mountains and valleys around the world-famous Königssee ("Royal Lake"). The golden eagle majesticly circles round above the Klasbach Valley, the cute Alpine marmots are playing on the Köngigsbachalm and the chamois and ibex show their climbing skills on the steep rocks.

About 230 kilometers of hiking trails and Alpine climbing trails lead you through the Berchtesgaden National Park - some of them start right at our doorstep!  Nature has season all year round in the Berchtesgaden National Park. See for yourself and get to know the secrets of the golden eagle, Alpine marmot & Co.!
